The Douro – one of the world’s oldest demarcated regions – produces rare wines of great prestige.
The varieties of the Douro and Porto wines are achieved by, amongst
other factors, the characteristics of the soil, altitude, exposure to
the sun, rainfall and different vine-variety combinations. These vine
varieties can be distinguished by the flavor of the grape, the shape of
the bunch and the morphology of the leaf.
Applying a careful and precise observation, Teresa Ferrand, a graduated artist from FBAUL (Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Lisbon), painted a collection of leaves of the main vine varieties used in the production of these wines
This collection is presented not only as a guide, but also as an art object.
